Samaritans Covid Precautions
➢ No more than two people in the vehicle; one driving and the other in the back seat on the right side.
➢ Take multiple vehicles if more than two people are on a trip.
➢ If at all possible, keep the windows down; with severe cold, lower the front right window and the back left window. Keep the air flow heating/cooling system set on intake of outside air.
➢ Masks are required when in the vehicle.
➢ Avoid stopping in towns if possible. Mask and social distance if you stop.
➢ When walking/hiking, stay 6 feet apart. Masks recommended.
➢ Carry hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol with you at all times. Clean hands frequently and well.
➢ Carry unused masks in the vehicle. When encountering a migrant, hand them a mask and ask them to wear it.
➢ If it is necessary to approach them, put on mask, face shield/goggles, and gloves before doing so.
➢ Apply a mask to their face if you can do so without further endangering their status.
➢ After you part from the migrant, carefully remove your gloves (turn them inside out as you remove them) and clean your hands thoroughly with sanitizer and/or a bottle with soapy water. Then remove your mask and put on a clean one.
➢ When you return to Border Links, take alcohol wipes or a cloth saturated with sanitizer and carefully clean vehicle surfaces and surfaces of the shed that have been touched.
Temporarily:
• New people included only with the agreement of others on the trip and agreement to follow Covid Protocols -- even if traveling in a separate vehicle.
◦ This includes media.
• No more than 2 people in the vehicle unless all are in the same pod. Two people in a pod and one other person increases risk for all because it is then impossible to follow vehicle distancing protocols.
These protocols will be re-evaluated in 60 days.
